Scarborough RNLI

Saving lives around Scarborough's seas since 1801

Our Rescue Kit

In 2018 the RNLI spent £163.5 million running all the rescue services. As a voluntary organisation nearly all this money has to be found from voluntary donations and legacies. The RNLI is not government funded. Your generous donations ensure the Scarborough lifeboats, lifeguards and various water safety programmes can run every year. Below are details of some of the costs of the essential equipment we use on a daily basis, from the Shannon claass lifeboat to the waterproof gloves and boots we use.

If you are considering fund raising or donating you may wish to use this information to focus your efforts.

A new Shannon will be well beyond the reach of most people but a pair of gloves at £20 or boots at £54 are easy targets especially for schools, youth groups and children in their fundraising efforts.
